Robin Hobb has an amazing storytelling ability that just draws you right in to her world from page one. I mean, you' re of course quite right that “fitz” means “son of” in (for lack of a better word) this universe, but my impression of it in the Farseer universe was always pejorative; I never had the idea that Verity overlooked Fitz's illegitimacy. But I kept having to remind myself that he was still just a boy in this book – by the end of this first part of the trilogy he is not in this country and time period of an age to vote, drink, or serve in the armed forces. First book: Assassin's Apprentice. How can we keep from going mad with impatience to find out The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb. Assassin's Apprentice is Robin Hobb's first published novel. The first, Assassin's Apprentice – tackled many of the same ideas and broad 'coming of age' themes as Rowling. When I finished the Farseer trilogy, I felt completely numb and emotionally exhausted. And to my mind, Hobb did it with much more originality. This book is a sequel to Assassin's Apprentice which I read a couple of years ago. I'm referring to FitzChivalry Farseer, hero (anti-hero, really) of Robin Hobb's Farseer trilogy. I downloaded (uploaded?) Assassin's Apprentice because I love the genre and it was free… I was not disappointed! At the very Honestly, the Harry Potter books don't particularly have a strong appeal for me, though I have seen and enjoyed a few of the earlier movies. It is also the first in her Farseer Trilogy and has since been followed up by the subsequent two novels, several more series and some stand-alone novels. Martin's A Dance With Dragons was everything we'd hoped it would be — but now we can't wait to read the next book, The Winds of Winter. Review: Assassin's Apprentice (Farseer trilogy #1) by Robin Hobb He also narrated The Way of Shadows, another book about a fantasy assassin I didn't much care for, which may have colored my perception of this book. I had enjoyed it, but not nearly as much Her stye of writing in the Farseer Trilogy takes some getting used to. However, I now have only four more books to go before I catch up to the ones that my friend helpfully lent to me (numbers 8 and 9 in the overall continuity).
